Layers, and layers of Colored pencil!
Well I may be jumping the gun just a wee bit, but I do believe my cousins picture is "almost" finished. Her patience for this piece should be commended. Waiting a little over a year for this is way longer than I intended. It is the biggest Colored Pencil rendering I've done to date 24X20. Gently layering with care, I seemed to have developed quite a relationship with this picture. Sometimes it is hard to depart myself from a piece of artwork. I may have to do some grief work after this!!! ;) jk

What a Difference a YEAR MAKES!
Soooo, it's been a year since I posted to my blog site. Wasn't even sure it still existed!
Here YOU ARE!
What a crazy year it's been! It was quite a soaker, literally if you live in Ohio. In February 2011, it started off with major flooding in my basement. And my basement is my art studio, or was my art studio. It has taken almost a whole year to rearrange another room to use as my office/studio. Actually, it is not quite finished as I envision it, but it's functional. My basement I am still going to use as a partial work area. It's a great space. Either way, things are moving along...slowly, but moving. Unfortuately because of the hectic atomsphere in my house, constantly moving and rearranging, I haven't been to productive in my art and creative life. This year will be different though! And that is where I am going to start this NEW blog off, in making a difference from last year to this year. How will I and my life be different in 2012?

INSPIRATION!
There are many things that inspire me! What a topic to begin with! This past Christmas, I have to say the best gift I received was from my father. It wasn't the usual gift of money inside the card, it was what my father wrote.
Written on the inside of the card it said, "Don't give up your dreams!"
Even typing that, it still chokes me up!
So what inspires me the most? Well it is HOPE, ENCOURAGEMENT, FAITH and most of all LOVE! That's what my father's words meant to me and still means to me. I have that card on my kitchen table where I can see it everyday...to INSPIRE me and I am determined not to give up on my dreams.
Well, I think that's it for today! Blessings all and stay warm.
